Washington University has announced a transformative fundraising initiative that aims not only to increase financial resources for students at every level of need, including middle-income students, but also to provide a “best-in-class” experience for all students to learn, develop and flourish while on campus and beyond.

Washington University has unveiled its strategic plan, setting a bold and ambitious path for the next decade. Called “Here and Next,” the plan represents the university’s 10-year strategic vision and was developed through a process that included 18 months of listening, outreach and work sessions, and incorporating feedback from thousands of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners.

Chancellor Andrew D. Martin introduced U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to a crowd of more than 3,000 students, faculty and staff during a question-and-answer session April 5 in the Field House at Washington University.

Women continue to be underrepresented in top jobs in America’s institutions of higher education, holding less than 40% of executive leadership roles. One notable exception is Washington University in St. Louis, where women comprise 89% of Chancellor Andrew D. Martin’s cabinet and 56% of the university leadership council.
